happy independence day 15 august

New Delhi, August 15, 2025 – India marked its 79th Independence Day with grandeur, patriotism, and a powerful address by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the historic Red Fort. This year’s celebrations held special meaning with the theme of ‘Naya Bharat’ (New India), reflecting the government’s vision of achieving ‘Viksit Bharat by 2047’.

PM’s Big Announcements

In his address, PM Modi announced a landmark youth initiative, promising new educational reforms, skill development programs, and job opportunities aimed at empowering India’s youth. Calling the youth the “engine of India’s growth,” he emphasized their critical role in shaping the nation’s future.

He also promised sweeping GST reforms, assuring traders and businesses of a simpler, more transparent tax system. “Our aim is to reduce compliance burdens and enhance ease of doing business,” he said.

‘Operation Sindoor’ Saluted

The day was emotionally charged with tributes to the Armed Forces’ recent success in ‘Operation Sindoor’, which was launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. The Red Fort was adorned with Operation Sindoor-themed décor, and two Mi-17 IAF helicopters showered petals as one flew the national flag and the other the operation’s banner.

PM Modi said, “Operation Sindoor is not just a military operation, it’s the voice of a New India that responds with strength and conviction.”

Bold Message to Infiltrators

Modi sent a stern warning against infiltration and demographic manipulation, stating, “India will not tolerate any threat to its internal security. The era of soft responses is over.”

He also criticized the Indus Water Treaty, calling it “an injustice” and pledged that India’s rivers and water resources will now solely benefit Indian farmers.

Nationwide Celebrations

Across the country, leaders and citizens joined in the celebrations:

  • CM Bhajanlal Sharma (Rajasthan) lauded Operation Sindoor.
  • CM Mamata Banerjee (West Bengal) led flag-hoisting at Red Road.
  • CM Revanth Reddy (Telangana) and CM Siddaramaiah (Karnataka) held ceremonial events in their capitals.
  • Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi extended their greetings, urging for justice, equality, and unity.

Global Greetings

A Proud Moment

PM Modi concluded, “This festival of freedom is not just about our past; it is about our resolve to build a brighter, stronger, and more inclusive India.”

As the Red Fort echoed with ‘Jana Gana Mana’, and the skies bloomed with saffron, white, and green, the 79th Independence Day became not just a tribute to the past but a bold step into India’s future.
