Kaidon Salter – Colorado head coach Deion Sanders has officially named Kaidon Salter, a transfer from Liberty University, as the starting quarterback for the Buffaloes’ season opener against Georgia Tech this Friday night. The decision marks a pivotal moment for Colorado’s revamped offense as Sanders favors experience and leadership in what’s expected to be a competitive 2025 campaign.
Salter, a junior with dual-threat capabilities, brings a wealth of experience from his time at Liberty, where he threw for over 2,800 yards and rushed for 900+ last season. Known for his mobility and big-play ability, Salter edged out highly touted freshman Julian Lewis, who was considered one of the most promising quarterbacks in the 2025 recruiting class.
“He’s earned it,” Sanders said at a press conference. “He’s composed, he’s confident, and he commands that huddle like a seasoned vet.”
The move signals Colorado’s intention to hit the ground running this season after a turbulent 2024 campaign. With a new-look offensive line and several high-profile transfers, expectations are high.
Lewis is expected to remain heavily involved, potentially seeing snaps later in the game. Still, the starting role belongs to Salter—for now.
