Apple Inc. has officially entered the Formula 1 arena, striking a groundbreaking deal that marks the company’s most significant move into the world of live sports entertainment yet. The partnership underscores Apple’s ambition to transform its streaming service, Apple TV+, into a global hub for premium sports content.
According to industry insiders, the deal will give Apple exclusive rights to produce and distribute behind-the-scenes F1 content, live highlights, and special access documentaries. While not yet a full race broadcasting deal, experts believe this partnership could pave the way for future live streaming rights.
This move follows Apple’s previous ventures into sports broadcasting — including Major League Soccer (MLS) with its Apple TV+ Season Pass, and coverage of Major League Baseball (MLB) games. By adding the adrenaline-fueled Formula 1 to its lineup, Apple is positioning itself to rival sports streaming giants such as ESPN+, Amazon Prime, and Netflix.
“Formula 1 is more than a sport; it’s a global phenomenon,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s Senior VP of Services. “Our goal is to bring fans closer to the action, technology, and stories that make F1 so captivating.”
The deal arrives amid a growing trend of tech giants investing heavily in sports media, driven by increasing viewer demand for immersive and on-demand experiences. Apple’s latest partnership with F1 could set a new benchmark for how sports are produced and consumed in the digital age.
