Govardhan Puja As Diwali celebrations continue, devotees today observe Govardhan Puja 2025 with devotion, prayers, and elaborate offerings. The day commemorates the divine act of Lord Krishna lifting the Govardhan Hill to shelter the people of Gokul from Lord Indra’s wrath.
Temples across Mathura, Vrindavan, and other parts of India are beautifully adorned, and devotees are seen offering large varieties of food items — from sweets to savory dishes — symbolizing gratitude toward nature and the divine.
Religious leaders and astrologers have also issued reminders about what not to do on this day. Acts of disrespect toward cows, wastage of food, and consumption of meat or alcohol are considered major taboos. It is also advised not to skip the evening aarti or ignore the traditional Govardhan parikrama.
