8th Pay Commission Gets Green Signal: Salary Hike Likely From 2026

8th pay commission

8th Pay Commission Good news for millions of central government employees! The Union Cabinet has given the go-ahead to the 8th Pay Commission, approving its Terms of Reference and setting the stage for the next round of pay and pension revisions.

The Commission will review pay structures, allowances, and retirement benefits, ensuring that the compensation system remains fair and inflation-adjusted. The move is expected to benefit around 47 lakh employees and 68 lakh pensioners.

Sources suggest that the recommendations could be implemented by January 1, 2026, aligning with the 10-year revision cycle. Once enforced, employees could see a substantial jump in take-home salaries.

Economists believe the approval will stimulate consumption, especially in urban centers, while also increasing government expenditure. The final report of the 8th Central Pay Commission (8th CPC) is awaited with high anticipation.
