West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has reassured that no legitimate voter will be removed from the electoral roll during the Second Summary Intensive Revision (SIR) phase. The announcement came after a crucial all-party meeting held to ensure transparency and cooperation in the voter verification process.
The CEO emphasized that all political parties have agreed to work collectively to maintain the integrity of the voter list and ensure a fair and inclusive electoral process. “The objective is to strengthen democracy, not to exclude anyone,” said the CEO.
Officials confirmed that field-level verifications will be conducted with utmost caution, ensuring that genuine voters’ names remain intact while removing only duplicate or ineligible entries.
The meeting highlighted a unified commitment from all parties to preserve voter rights and prevent any unlawful deletions ahead of the upcoming elections in 2025.
