In a landmark judgment, the Supreme Court of India ordered all state and municipal authorities to remove stray dogs from educational and healthcare institutions.
The move comes amid rising public concern over dog attacks and unsanitary conditions near schools and hospitals. The court stressed that protection of citizens, especially vulnerable groups like children and patients, must take precedence.
The bench also directed authorities to set up animal shelters and vaccination programs to manage stray populations responsibly, ensuring a humane yet effective approach to the issue.
