Donnarumma Exit Looms PSG Axing Fuels Manchester United Transfer Buzz

Paris Saint-Germain’s goalkeeping saga has taken a dramatic twist after head coach Luis Enrique omitted Gianluigi Donnarumma from the squad for Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup clash in Italy. The decision, confirmed by multiple sources including Fabrizio Romano, has intensified speculation that the Italian shot-stopper could be on his way to the Premier League—most notably to Manchester United.

The Breaking Point

PSG, last season’s Champions League winners, will face Tottenham Hotspur, who triumphed over Manchester United in the Europa League final. Yet, Donnarumma’s name is conspicuously absent from the travelling squad list.

Romano reported on X that Donnarumma has no intention of signing a new deal with PSG and will “100% leave” either this summer or when his contract expires in 2026. His representatives believe the exclusion is a sign of a “completely broken” relationship with the club.

“The situation is unfair for the goalkeeper,” Romano posted, adding that the Premier League is now the most likely destination.

Man Utd in Pole Position?

United, still in the market for a top-class keeper after André Onana’s inconsistent form last season, have long been linked with Donnarumma. The 26-year-old’s availability could be a game-changer, particularly given his experience, shot-stopping ability, and trophy pedigree.

Why This Matters

  • Timing: The UEFA Super Cup snub comes just weeks before the close of the summer transfer window.
  • Market Shift: Few goalkeepers of Donnarumma’s calibre become available under such circumstances.
  • Premier League Fit: With his physical presence and proven big-game record, Donnarumma could slot seamlessly into United’s rebuild.

If talks progress, United fans could soon see a World Cup-winning goalkeeper between the posts at Old Trafford.
