Cheteshwar Pujara, widely regarded as one of India’s finest Test specialists, has announced his retirement from all forms of Indian cricket. Known for his understated style and firm resolve, Pujara leaves behind a legacy rooted in hard work, mental toughness, and unwavering commitment.

Born in Rajkot, Pujara rose through the domestic ranks with a hunger for big scores. His breakout moment came during the 2010 home series against Australia, and he never looked back. From facing over 500 balls in a Test match to anchoring India through batting collapses, he became a symbol of stability in a changing cricketing landscape.

Pujara was not one for flash or flamboyance—his bat did the talking. His 132 in Sydney and 123 in Johannesburg stand as masterclasses in Test batting. Teammates often referred to him as “the wall 2.0,” a nod to Rahul Dravid.

He played his final Test in 2023, but continued mentoring youngsters at Saurashtra. Speaking on his retirement, Pujara said, “Wearing the Indian jersey has been my greatest honour. It’s time to move on and let the next generation shine.”

As India’s cricketing world evolves, it bids goodbye to one of its most unshakeable pillars.
