louvre museum robbery On the morning of October 19, 2025, a daring theft unfolded at the Louvre Museum in Paris. At about 9:30 a.m., three to four professional thieves struck the museum’s Galerie d’Apollon — the wing that houses France’s crown jewels — using a crane and a basket lift to access a higher-floor window.

The robbers used angle grinders or disc cutters to break through panes, smashed display cases, and escaped on motorbikes in approximately four to seven minutes.

The French Interior Ministry described the stolen items as of “inestimable heritage value.” One piece was later found broken outside the museum — possibly the crown of Empress Eugénie.

The museum closed for the day to allow forensic investigation, and police say the operation was clearly executed by a well-scouted, experienced team.
