The Maharashtra government has officially approved Phase 2 of the Pune Metro expansion, adding two new routes to enhance urban connectivity. The decision aims to ease traffic congestion and provide faster transport options for residents across Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad.
Under the new phase, the approved routes will cover key residential and commercial zones, significantly improving access to metro services. The expansion is expected to benefit thousands of daily commuters and reduce the city’s dependency on road transport.
Officials stated that detailed project reports (DPRs) are in the final stages, and construction work could begin soon after receiving the necessary clearances. Once completed, Pune Metro Phase 2 will further strengthen the city’s growing public transport network.
