Renault has introduced a new dealer-fitted CNG kit option for the 2025 Kiger Facelift, targeting cost-conscious buyers who want reduced running costs without compromising on comfort or design. This move makes the Kiger one of the few compact SUVs in India to offer a CNG alternative alongside petrol and turbo-petrol powertrains.

CNG Kit Details

The CNG kit is available with the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated engine, known for its reliability and efficiency. While exact mileage figures have not been disclosed, Renault claims the CNG version offers over 25 km/kg, making it ideal for urban commuters and fleet operators.

The biggest advantage? It comes with a 3-year manufacturer-backed warranty, ensuring peace of mind for those concerned about long-term reliability or performance loss.

Powertrain Compatibility

Engine options for the 2025 Kiger include:

  • 1.0-litre NA petrol (72 PS) – available with Manual, AMT, and now CNG
  • 1.0-litre turbo-petrol (100 PS, 160 Nm) – available with Manual and CVT

The CNG variant is expected to retain sufficient power for city usage, though it may not be the first choice for highway-heavy drivers. Renault’s engineering ensures minimal performance drop and smooth gear shifting.

Why CNG Now?

Fuel prices have remained volatile, and many city buyers are looking for greener, more economical options. The popularity of CNG vehicles has surged due to their low cost per kilometer and reduced emissions.

Renault’s decision to offer a CNG option for the Kiger aligns with government incentives for cleaner fuels and offers customers a new fuel-efficient choice in the SUV segment, traditionally limited to petrol and diesel.

Retains All Key Features

Importantly, the CNG variant doesn’t miss out on major features. It still offers:

  • Power steering and power windows
  • Touchscreen infotainment
  • Dual-tone interiors
  • Rear AC vents
  • Driver aids like rear parking sensors and ABS

This ensures that buyers do not have to sacrifice comfort or safety when choosing the more economical fuel type.

Market Impact

By bringing CNG to the Kiger, Renault broadens its appeal—especially in metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Pune where CNG infrastructure is well-developed. It also challenges the likes of Maruti Suzuki, which has traditionally dominated the CNG passenger vehicle segment.
