Cincinnati, August 15, 2025 — World No. 1 Iga Swiatek secured her place in the Cincinnati Open semifinals with a confident straight-sets victory over Anna Kalinskaya, avenging her loss in last year’s Dubai semifinal.

Swiatek was in command throughout, winning 24 of 30 first-serve points and keeping her composure even when under pressure. She was broken just once and maintained high intensity from start to finish.

“Just played my game,” Swiatek said after the win. “It wasn’t easy, but I stayed solid and kept the pressure on.”

Kalinskaya, a formidable hitter with a history of upsetting top players, entered the match with an impressive 13-10 record against Top 10 opponents. But Swiatek’s consistency and control proved too much this time.

Up next, Swiatek will face the winner of the blockbuster quarterfinal between Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina, setting the stage for a high-octane semifinal showdown.
